elimination reaction

1.does elimination reaction  of cycloalkyl hallide  exclusively gives cis isomer ????

E2 eliminations are favoured when leaving group is anti to beta hydrogen...so two groups would be left behind after the elimination in anti conformation. So I think it gives trans-isomer.
Not sure, so confirm from others.
Self belief is such a peculiar thing. As long as you have it, nothing can stop you, you feel invulnerable. But once it's gone, nothing can bring you up from the "I'm-useless" state you end up in.  Edited on 7:51pm 20-03-10
